Shannen chose the veterinary field because she finds it deeply rewarding to work with animals and to make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners. She loves interacting directly with the animals and enjoys listening and learning as the doctors diagnose and treat each patient. Above all, she appreciates the supportive and welcoming team she works with every day.
Shannen’s life outside the clinic is filled with adventure, travel, and a true passion for animals. She entertains millions of people each year across North America by performing with her dogs, and she lives on a farm surrounded by dogs, horses, and a cat. She spends her days riding in the mountains throughout the year and enjoying the peace and beauty of nature.
A remarkable highlight of Shannen’s life is her international agility career. She has traveled to Europe five times with her dog to represent Canada at the World Agility Championship and has proudly brought home three medals.
Her own pets are a big part of her story. She shares her life with four dogs: Lethal, an eight year old German Shepherd; Savage, a five year old German Shepherd; Kraken, an eight month old German Shepherd; and Missile, a two year old Dutch Shepherd. Her farm is also home to two beloved horses, Lady Bug, a thirteen year old Appaloosa, and Shamrock, a twenty four year old Quarter Horse.
